Knitting Socks

I have always wanted to learn to knit socks but was afraid that working with 5 really small needles would be really hard.  I tried with the circular needles but kept getting caught in the cable. I finally purchased the dpns and tried hand warmers first so I didn't have to deal with toes and a heel.  This is my first pair of hand warmers.  Kind of an amazed that I finished both of them.
Then I tried socks.  I used the dpns and malibrigo yarn.  It knits up really nice.  I have one sock finished and just have a couple inches to go on the second one. The dpns were really easy.  I didn't even get bothered by the ones hanging when they weren't in use.  I have had the second one almost finished for several months.  I hope when I pick them back up I can remember what I was doing!  I would never pay nearly $20 for one pair of socks but at is what the yarn costs!

  1. Patti, your hand warmers are very nice and they look more difficult than the socks I make. You have done beautifully on your socks too. That color yarn is one of my favorite. Nicely done. Your dpns look a lot longer than what I use. What length are they? I learned on 6" dpns and now I have a pair of 5" ones that work well too. They don't get in the way of each other.

  2. Way to GO! I was in your place a few months ago and finally finished my first pair of socks with DPNs. Frankly, my feeling is that I DID IT and don't need to do it again--LOL!

  3. I really want to start another pair but I won't until I finish these. I don't want to have unfinished socks like I do quilts!
